I was born and raised in New York City and have been living on Long Island for over twenty years. I currently live in East Setauket and enjoy taking long walks at our local beach and on the nature trails near my home. I especially love decorating my home, and when I go to yard and estate sales and thrift shops I look for plates and other items that I can incorporate into my mosaic work. I have to admit that I am an obsessive Pinterest “Pinner”!
As a stained glass and mosaic artist, I look for inspiration wherever I go, seeking out possibilities with colors and design wherever they appear, and most especially in nature.
Stained glass was my first love. It’s a special and dynamic medium. After eighteen years of working with stained glass I am still amazed by the beautiful textures and colors of glass and how those colors change as the natural light changes throughout the day. Working with glass in my studio always gives me a feeling of total peace as I focus on the process of creating.
And there is always something new. Over the past two years I have been learning how to create mosaic artwork. There is no end to the variety of tesserae, which is the type of material used to create mosaic artwork. The possibilities are endless – stone, tile, glass, plates, cups, seashells, beads, mirror, just to name a few. I am fascinated by the incredible detail that can be achieved when creating portraits, and challenged when creating three-dimensional artwork.
