Pat D’Aversa was a founding member of Women Sharing Art, Inc. and was instrumental in guiding and steering us in our first 10 years as she held several positions on our board. She was a dedicated artist who was always working at being better at her craft. She was generous with her information and always willing to help whoever needed help with their camera or photography. We will really miss her quiet elegance and friendship. Rest in Peace Pat.
Pat D’Aversa is a recently retired Long Islander educated as a Registered Nurse. She studied art and photography at Farmingdale College and Dowling College and her attendance at photography workshops is ongoing. Membership in photography clubs and entries in juried exhibits has produced many awards nationally for floral, landscape and manipulated digital images. She has won three Leonard Victor Awards at Photography Federation of Long Island (PFLI). Pat is a nature photographer who has a passion for macro photography. Getting up close and filling the frame with her subject creates images with great color and impact. Sometimes her goal is to fool the viewer’s eye and present familiar images as abstract creations.
Pat has participated in three solo exhibits and many group exhibits. Her work is in permanent collections at SUNY Stony Brook Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, NY and private collections. She is a member Islip Arts Council, Women Sharing Art, Art League of Long Island, Photographic Society of America, Photographic Federation of Long Island, and Suffolk Camera Club.
