Joan Genchi

Joan M. Genchi is an artist, attorney and retired Family Court Judge.  Her Master’s Thesis Show entitled “Writings” was presented at LIU C.W. Post College during her first year of law school.

Her artwork begins with a “theme” in mind and then she lets it go from there.  The theme for “Writings” developed from the hours of writing that law school demands. Other themes have developed from her computer crashing, choice of a color scheme, a desire to use natural elements, reverence for the beauty of nature, political commentary and so on.

Once she has begun a piece she tries to let the process take over…she tries not to over think the piece.  Rather, she tries to become emersed in the developing art piece.

Her work has been exhibited in numerous shows.  Some juried some not.  Her art has received Best in Show and other awards and recognition.

She is an active member of Women Sharing Art and North Shore Art Guild.
