Scotto-Lavino, Joanne - Profile PIC 500x500

Joanne Scotto-Lavino

I have been drawing and coloring for as long as I can remember. I was always impressed how my mother could stay within the lines!

When I was in elementary school I was given the task of decorating the bulletin boards for each holiday and my teacher would lend me to other teachers to do the same.

In my earlier years I loved textiles and loved to sew. I later enjoyed quilting. My original goal was to become an art teacher so I took as many art classes as possible.

Then life took a different direction. Once the family had grown I joined the Long Island Art League and began my journey into watercolor. I fell in love! Watercolor is an exciting, freeing and meditative experience. I get lost in how the paint moves making each painting an adventure.

I hope my art inspires others, to see something from a different point of view or better yet that it sparks a wonderful memory.

I am always looking to expand my knowledge with composition, color and technique. It is important to me to continue to grow as an artist. I hope that my work makes the viewer feel peace and joy. It is always exciting when my paintings are loved and adopted.
