Watercolor
Born in Belgium, Mireille went to art school at St. Lucas, Antwerp, for jewelry design and graduated as a goldsmith from Technicum, Antwerp. Her love for detail is reflected in her watercolors, whether they are botanicals or whimsical fairy tales.
“Creativity shows in all aspects of life, in your home, at your work, in your relationships with people….Since I was encouraged by my parents from a very young age to express myself through art I wanted to do something for children. I love it when my work actively engages a child’s imagination, inspiring them to express their own art.”
Together with her husband, Michael Belajonas, she opened the “Mirabela Studio of Music and Art” in Port Jefferson, NY where he teaches music and she teaches art to children and adults. Lessons are one on one and specifically geared to each individual.
Mireille has illustrated a children’s book ” Billy and the Blanket Monster” written by Robert Reichel, available on Amazon. She also created a beautiful line of greeting cards, for sale at local stores and at her studio.
Her art has been shown in various exhibits at the Islip Art Museum, BAFFA Gallery in Sayville, Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Oakdale, and the Bayport/Blue Point library.
