Oils & Acrylics

My love of painting started when my parents gave me an oil painting set and a Robert Foster how-to-book for my 16th birthday. Although they encouraged my new hobby, they discouraged me from pursuing art as a career and I went to work in corporate America and painted in my free time. Having previously worked for Shearson Lehman Hutton on the 106th floor of the World Trade Center, the tragic events of 9-11 affected me deeply and I decided it was time to pursue my passion. At 37 years old, I entered a three-year apprenticeship with Jacob Collins at the Water Street Atelier in New York City.

Since then, I have exhibited my work at galleries across the country and have taught painting courses at the Stevenson Academy, the Teaching Studios of Art, and the Art League of Long Island. My painting style is based on classical realism, and I enjoy painting landscapes, figures, and still life with a recent focus on florals.

I strive to capture the beautiful elements I see in the world around me from the way the light falls across an object to the shadow shapes created by the falling light and the beautiful colors that exist all around us.
