2010 Events & Happenings

Women Sharing Art members will be exhibiting and selling holiday greeting cards of their work at the “1910 Christmas at Meadow Croft”. Saturday, December 4 and Sunday, December 5 from 12 to 4 pm. The summer estate of John Ellis Roosevelt will be decorated with holiday displays and collections and the decorations will be raffled on Sunday. This exhibit is presented by the Bayport Heritage Association. Meadow Croft is on Middle Road on the Sayville and Bayport line. There is an admission fee of $5 for adults and $3 for senior and children. This event is not suitable for children under the age of 4. Please no strollers.

Glass Cloisonne Workshop by Women Sharing Art Member, Julianna Kirk: Come join a workshop using a different base material for making beautiful cloisonne pendants on crystal clear glass! This 3-week, 8-hour workshop offers opportunity to move step-by-step from original design idea to completion of one pendant holding pure silver cloisons with enamel paints within the walls on a dichroic background. All supplies, tools, equipment, and firings are provided. Women Sharing Art members Victoria Beckert, Lisa Scrima-Castelli and Chris Taylorare 3 of 32 Artists that have been selected to be included in the exhibition “The Essence of Fire Island” at the Patchogue/WatchHill Ferry Terminal. All are semi-finalists for the FFINS calendar contest. Viewing is on weekends from 1pm to 4pm beginning with an opening reception on Sunday, April 25.

The Islip Arts Council has chosen the watercolor painting “Musical Notes” by Women Sharing Art member, Victoria Beckert for promoting their Islip Arts Council Jazz Fest and will be using Victoria’s watercolor as their logo on programs, banners and publicity for 2010.

Congratulations to Women Sharing Art member Libby Hintz on her new job as a faculty member of the Art League of Long Island. Her first mosaic workshop was held at the Art League of Long Island on Monday, February 22, 2001 which was enthusiastically attended by 14 new students many of whom intend to continue in Libby’s classes. Women Sharing Art member Dawn Schabner will exhibit in “Wildly Different Things: New York and Dublin.” Event is sponsored by the Embassy of the United States in Dublin and it will open in Ireland on 25th February and will continue until 20th March, 2010. It is curated by Jane Ross (Dublin), Ciara Gibbons (Dublin), Elena Avesani (New York), and Giulia Coccia (New York).
