2011 Events & Happenings
Women Sharing Art will join the Bayport Heritage Association on Saturday and Sunday, December 3rd and December 4th, 2011 from 12noon- 4PM at the Meadow Croft Estate located at 299 Middle Road at Browns River on the Bayport Sayville border. The estate will be decorated for Christmas in a Victorian/Edwardian motif. There will be special exhibits of artwork, electric trains, vintage clothing, wood carvings and Christmas specialties.
St. Nicholas will be there to see who’s been naughty and nice this past year. All decorations will be raffled off. Please come to see Women Sharing Arts’ exhibit of members works and do some Christmas shopping.

Please join WOMEN SHARING ART members, Victoria Beckert and Libby Hintz, at the Islip Arts Council 28th Annual Juried Art Show held in the Carriage House on the grounds of the Bayard Cutting Arboretum located at 440 Montauk Hwy, Great River, NY. Victoria has had two of her new watercolors accepted into the show. Libby Hintz has had two artworks accepted, also. In this Tenth Anniversary of September 11th exhibit, artwork will include depictions of our great land and country and the family members, survivors and responders of 9/11.

WOMEN SHARING ART member, Pola Lanzaro, along with her students, will be exhibiting “The Spirit of the Brush” at the BAFFA Art Gallery, 47 Gillette Ave, Sayville, NY, September 10-11 and 17-18 from 12 to 4 pm with a reception on September 11 from 2 to 4 pm.

Women Sharing Art members Pat D’Aversa and Eileen Palmer have been selected as finalists in The Long Island Museum’s juried photography exhibit- Eye on Long Island. 91 out of 400 artists and their photographs were chosen to take apart of this exhibition that will be on display in the Gillespie Community Room at the Long Island Museum in Stony Brook.
The exhibit will be on display from August 13 through September 5. An artists reception will be Sunday, August 14 from 2 to 4pm

The Islip Art Museum presents: the Museum Store Exhibit Series! Currently on display, Sights of Stripes including Women Sharing Art member Chris Taylor. This exhibit coincides with the museum show Flag Day.
Selected work will be on view from June 15 through September 4, 2011. An artist’s reception is scheduled for Sunday, July 24, from 1 – 4 p.m.

Women Sharing Art member, Alina Rossi, is chairwoman of “Sayville’s Got Talent” July 6, 2011, 7 to 9 pm at The Common Ground park on Gillette Avenue in Sayville. This is a fundraiser for The Common Ground. All the proceeds from this event will help to maintain the grounds and gardens and to provide events at The Common Ground ~ home to various free community events throughout the year including concerts, races, workshops and classes. Alina is receiving an assist from another WSA member, Ginnie Moore. Acts will be performed with a sound system from the Pamela Raymond Pavilion.
Anyone attending this event this year on July 6, please bring a can of food that will be donated to the Sayville Food Pantry and enjoy this first time event at The Common Ground!

Women Sharing Art members Victoria Beckert, Holly Black, Sue Miller & Lisa Marie Scrima-Castelli have had artwork in various media selected for 10th Annual Juried Art Exhibit “By the Beautiful Sea” at the Fire Island Lighthouse. The opening reception is June 23, 2011 from 6 to 9 pm. The exhibit is open to the public June 24 thru July 17, 2011. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean the Fire Island Lighthouse Exhibit will include over 100 pieces. A portion of any sales will benefit The Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society.

Women Sharing Art member, Eileen Palmer’s work has been selected for inclusion in The 55th Long Island Artists Exhibition Show at the Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery at the Art League of Long Island in Dix Hills. This is the oldest juried art competition on Long Island.

Women Sharing Art members Julianna Kirk and Eileen Palmer’s work were both accepted into the Reclaiming Eden Show at the Art League of Long Island. There is a reception on Friday evening, May 27th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The show is exhibited until June 12th.
Julianna Kirk glass jewelry has been accepted into Gallery M in Greenport and BJ Spoke in Huntington. Spoke has also been showing my glass sculptures for a year now. Julianna Kirk is participating in a grant as the guest artist teaching fused glass to Bellport High school students in June. The grant was awarded to a high school teacher through the South Country Arts Foundation.

In honor of Women’s History Month, Women Sharing Art Inc is proud to present a multi-media exhibit to benefit the Stony Brook Long Island Children’s Hospital. 15 of our Artists will participate in the exhibit “Feminine Agendas” at the Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook Gallery (3131 Nesconset Hwy, Centereach, NY) from March 1 thru April 16, 2011.
An Artists’ Reception & Benefit will be held March 16, 2011, 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The evening will also be highlighted by the sounds of “Lonely Brook” featuring the unique blend of music by James Hubbard on trombone, Richard Vaudrey on cello and Rafael Alberto on pandeiro.

All are invited to attend the artists’ reception and FIRST ANNUAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER at the Gallery on February 5 from 5 to 7 pm. Join us for an early Valentine’s event with hors d’oeuvres, wine and music and be sure to purchase raffle tickets to benefit the Scholarship Fund. Winners need not be present at the cocktail party.
