Libby Hintz – Mosaic Workshop at Bayard Cutting Arboretum

Artist: Amy Hintz

Mosaics have become very popular and the process is so easy, come learn with this three-day workshop (4 hours plus lunch) geared towards beginners who want to learn basic mosaic techniques. Libby Hintz, mosaic artist will cover the following topics: substrates (what you put a mosaic on); tesserae (tiles etc.); adhesives (what you use to adhere the tesserae); andamento (how you lay the tesserae); design/templates and grouting

Students will practice cutting skills needed to create straight and curved lines within the first class, by the end of the workshop students will have a 10” x 10” finished mosaic of a pre-determined design. It’s easier and more satisfying to learn to make a mosaic while not being concerned with the design, once the basics have been learned, you may go on to make your own design.

No previous experience is required to take this class.

There is a $40 materials fee due first day of class and adhesive, grout, and use of tools to complete the project are included.
