Teacher Referral Form for 2021 Student Application
Women Sharing Art Inc. (WSA), a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, is sponsoring up to $2,000 in art awards to deserving young women from the 12th grade in conjunction with participating high school art programs throughout Suffolk County. WSA will be considering the portfolio of any female student selected by her teacher and submitting work to Women Sharing Art. We will also be taking applications for The Pat D’Aversa Memorial Photography Scholarship for any female photography student from the 12th grade.
Winners of this scholarship must be planning to pursue an art degree.
Requirements for applying online submission:
Submit minimum of three works of art, maximum of five for each student to the Women Sharing Art Scholarship committee for review via the link below these instructions
1 – Work selected must show student’s breadth in media and strongest pieces as an artist a different media for each entry is suggested.
2 – When submitting jpeg photos of your artwork, always photograph using the highest resolution the camera will provide. Make sure the complete image is in focus.
3 – Size of jpegs: submit images (no more than 5) that are approximately no more than 3500 pixels wide on its longest side and 300 dpi resolution.
4 – Title each image as follows: Last Name, Title, Medium, Name of School
5 – On a separate attachment include a brief student artist statement about themselves and their plans to use the scholarship funds. Also include a picture of the student artist
6 – Deadline for all applications is May 31, 2021
7 – Award Winners will be notified by June 10, 2021
8 – Presentations of Awards to be determined by selected panel of Women Sharing Art members
9 – WSA will also post the names of the Award Winners on our website and Facebook
