Photography

When did I not have a camera in my hands? The first was a black rectangular box camera. Now it might be a wide angle lens to capture the splendor of the mountains, a macro lens when I see colors in a raindrop on one of my roses or my iPhone. My photography classes at OLLI (Stony Brook University) and my camera club (Paumanok) provide opportunities to continue the learning process and to share my images for discussion.

Traveling and photography go hand in hand. I have visited some fascinating locations and have been challenged to bring home the nuances and beauty of other countries and peoples. Many of these images are used in the photo cards that I sell in bookstores, Bayard Cutting Arboretum Gift Shop and Lavender by the Sea in East Marion. I try to catch the viewer’s attention with humor, details and creativity.

For me photography is great fun!! Discovering something new or unusual, paying attention to details, shadows, reflections etc is what I look for. Then creating the final image….exactly what I saw? Or a product of my imagination? Stay tuned!
